2016 Trip To Opatia and Rijeka
Opatija is an Adriatic resort in Croatia dating back to the 19th century. It is in the northern part of the Croatian coast and closer to Zagreb than most other coastal resorts. There is a promenade along the coastline called Lungomare. It is a few km long and passes through the town center, marinas, coffee shops and most importantly ice-cream shops! We enjoyed walking there both early mornings and late evenings.
We were there only for a couple of days in June. We felt a laid back atmosphere around the town. There were many families with children enjoying the public swimming beaches. We felt that it was very nice place to rest and recuperate.
On the way to Opatija we also stopped by Rijeka which is only about 16km away. It is the major seaport and the third largest city in Croatia. Unfortunately, we could spend only an afternoon there for lunch and to take a few pictures. Hope to return one day.
Here are some of the pictures we took.
